The High Commission of Canada in Singapore is inviting applications for the position of Commercial Assistant (Ontario). This is an indeterminate, full-time Locally Engaged Staff (LES) position based in Singapore.
About the Role
The Commercial Assistant will support the Ontario Trade & Investment Office (TIO) in Singapore, which advances Ontario’s commercial interests across Southeast Asia, including Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Ontario is Canada’s economic powerhouse, generating nearly 40% of Canada’s GDP and home to approximately 40% of its population. Through its international Trade & Investment Offices, Ontario promotes export growth, foreign direct investment, and research and innovation partnerships.
Reporting to the Head of Program, the Commercial Assistant will provide administrative, financial, operational, and program support to advance Ontario’s trade and investment objectives in the region.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
Provide administrative and financial support, including contracts, partnership agreements, budget monitoring, expense claims, and financial reporting.
Support planning and logistics for official events, high-level visits, and business delegations.
Assist in implementing trade promotion, investment attraction, and research collaboration initiatives.
Serve as a point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
Manage information systems, track performance data, and coordinate calendars.
Conduct research and draft communications, including public-facing and social media content.
Position Details
Location: Singapore
Contract Type: Indeterminate (Full-time)
Classification: LE–A2
Salary: SGD 44,301 per annum plus 2-month bonus
Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package in accordance with LES Terms and Conditions
Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week
The position may require occasional overtime, evening/weekend work, and business travel within Southeast Asia and potentially to Ontario, Canada.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
Be legally authorized to work in Singapore at the time of application.
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, economics, international studies, communications) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Have a minimum of two (2) years of recent and direct experience in administrative and financial support roles.
Demonstrate advanced proficiency in English (written and spoken).
The High Commission does not sponsor work passes.
