ASEAN has released its latest double issue, ASEAN Tourism: A Destination for Every Dream, marking a defining moment in the region’s socio-cultural and tourism landscape as Malaysia concludes its ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025. The publication highlights ASEAN’s mission to build a sustainable, inclusive, and culturally rich tourism ecosystem, one that reflects the region’s diversity, strengthens economic recovery, and supports long-term integration under ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future.
This year’s edition offers comprehensive insights into:
1. ASEAN’s Tourism Vision & Regional Mission
Member States outline strategies for sustainable tourism development, community participation, cultural preservation, and nature-based tourism models. From eco-tourism in Lao PDR to cultural revitalisation in Cambodia and innovation-driven tourism in Singapore, ASEAN demonstrates its commitment to quality tourism that benefits local economies.
2. A Transformative Year for ASEAN Integration
A milestone achievement celebrated in the publication is the formal admission of Timor-Leste as ASEAN’s 11th Member State, expanding the region’s tourism map and deepening regional cohesion.
3. Aligning Tourism With ASEAN 2045
Tourism is strategically linked to the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, focusing on:
stronger people-to-people mobility
sustainable and green tourism
digital and inclusive growth
cultural resilience and heritage protection
equitable economic opportunities across communities
4. The Road to 2026: Philippines as ASEAN Chair
As the Philippines prepares for its ASEAN Chairship with the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together,” the publication sets the stage for renewed regional collaboration.
