The Honourable Mélanie Joly has reaffirmed Canada's unwavering support for ASEAN centrality during the ASEAN Post Ministerial Conference with Canada in Jakarta. This reaffirmation solidifies our commitment to fostering robust collaborations in the region.
During the conference, both parties celebrated the finalization of a Joint Statement on the ASEAN-Canada Strategic Partnership. This remarkable achievement paves the way for the upcoming ASEAN-Canada Summit, where the Strategic Partnership will officially launch during the 43rd ASEAN Summit and Related Summits this September.
The meeting also acknowledged Canada's Indo-Pacific Strategy, announced in December 2022, highlighting Canada's commitment to fostering regional stability and prosperity. Canada and ASEAN stand united in addressing crucial issues that shape our shared future. From regional security to food security, climate change, and economic growth, our collective efforts will pave the way for a more prosperous and sustainable tomorrow.
