Canada-ASEAN Business Leaders Series 2024
The Canada-ASEAN Business Leaders Series is CABC’s flagship annual programme designed to strengthen Canada’s economic engagement with Southeast Asia through high-level dialogue, networking, research, and business development activities. Following CABC’s recognition as an ASEAN-accredited entity in January 2024—the only Canadian organization and one of only three joint business councils to receive this status—the 2024 Series expanded its reach and impact across the region. Aligned with Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy and the ASEAN-Canada Strategic Partnership, the programme featured over a dozen activities spanning seven ASEAN markets, covering priority sectors such as trade and investment, agriculture and food security, energy transition, infrastructure, and the digital economy. Building on the success of previous years, the 2024 Series continued to serve as the leading platform for Canada-ASEAN business and policy engagement, bringing together senior government officials, business leaders, and stakeholders to advance economic cooperation and create new opportunities for partnership across the region.
Objectives

Provide the leading event platform connecting Canadian and ASEAN public and private sector leaders in 2024

Deliver timely, strategic intelligence on two-way trade and investment trends, emphasizing specific business opportunities for Canadians in ASEAN countries (and vice versa)

Deepen private sector engagement in Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy and in achieving the goals of the ASEAN-Canada Strategic partnership, such as to strategically position Canada as a partner to ASEAN in food security, sustainability, innovation, and education

Advocate directly to key decision makers in ASEAN on the policies which will create the most optimal business/investment ecosystem for Canadians in or looking to enter the region, such as the CPTPP, CAFTA, and CEPA

Leverage CABC’s event expertise and network to advise and deliver private sector-focused events programming to support Canada’s key engagements with ASEAN, such as the Team Canada Trade Missions to Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines
