The Canada-ASEAN Business Council has been advocating for greater travel facilitation within Asia and will continue to push for more favourable visa policies to increase Canadians’ ease of doing business in the Asia Pacific region.

As such, the CABC welcomes the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA)’s effort to offer a special opportunity for non-resident Canadians to enroll in Canada’s APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) Program.

On September 7th, officials of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) will be in Singapore to finalize NEXUS enrolment as well as facilitate application and enrolment in the Canadian ABTC program for qualified applicants.

To be eligible to apply for the ABTC, the Canadian citizen must also have a NEXUS clearance, the pre-approved traveller program designed to speed up border crossing between Canada and the US. They can only apply for the ABTC once the final approval for NEXUS is given after a brief interview.

Through this special opportunity in Singapore, non-resident ABTC applicants can complete the enrollment process without returning to Canada for an interview at an Enrollment Centre.

Interested applicants should apply for NEXUS online as soon as possible as a conditional approval is needed for the candidate to enroll in the ABTC Program on September 7, 2018.

As an important advocacy concern for our Members, CABC welcomes the opportunity and will continue to push for greater and continued access to the ABTC program.
